Howdy folks, there is yet another No Man’s Sky Patch available on the experimental version of the game and it is of course 1.38. This patch brings yet another huge list of changes and fixes as well as a somewhat crazy but at first glance very welcome overhaul of the save file system. I’ll get into the very cool and notable changes in detail shortly but first, as always, let’s quickly read off the more “minor” changes and fixes. • Improved the accuracy of text describing planetary weather • Storms on humid/lush planets are no longer toxic; humid/lush planets now have a chance of their rain being very hot • Made the temperature range of dead planets more varied • In-flight weather effects now vary in strength based on height • Added error message when no outpost is found by the economy scanner • Prevented mining units being placed inside each other • Added a chance for pirates to spawn earlier than usual when a player warps into a certain systems, to add more variety to exploration and trading • Galactic map now respects user mouse sensitivity settings • Galactic map now respects user control inversion settings • Lush biomes in survival mode occasionally exist without an aggressive sentinel presence • Reduced cursor UI slowdown when using a pad • Prevented users occasionally falling outside the trading post platform when exiting their ship • Prevented traders from attacking pirates which are far out of their range • Added exotic ship audio for AI and NPC ships • Added tooltip text to explain the planet icons on the discovery page • Added ability to transfer items from cargo slots during maintenance interactions • Made NPCs who give directions refer to a wider spread of locations • Added ability to rebind the discard key And for the Bug Fixes; • Fixed an issue where some delivery missions would continuously tell players to visit other systems • Fixed an issue where the requirements to complete some missions could change as you spoke to NPCs • Fixed scaling issues with creature feeding icons • Fixed an issue where mining units would occasionally incorrectly produce Heridium • Fixed an issue where the terrain manipulator audio would occasionally continue after terrain editing completed • Fixed an issue where the terrain manipulator hologram would remain in one location after subtracting from the terrain • Fixed an issue where the ship crosshair would appear at incorrect times • Fixed the Upload All button on the discovery page not deactivating after being used • Corrected button prompts in the ship combat wiki • Prevented trade terminals having a negative quantity of stock • Fixed an issue where smaller freighters and containers could not be destroyed • Fixed an issue with dismantling tech on ship compare screens not correctly destroying the tech • Fixed an issue where unbinding a key would exit the control menu • Fixed an issue where selecting a new key binding could accidentally result in it being set to a mouse button • Fixed an issue where the Space Anomaly mission had no objective text in the log • Fixed an issue where some players who should have been able to restart distant missions were unable to do so • Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when scanning ships • Fixed an issue that could cause shader compile errors and texture issues to occur with the latest Nvidia Geforce driver • Fixed a localisation issue on the save selection screen The Biggest thing in all of this is, of course, the new save file system; • In this patch we’re introducing a new save system, which should make managing your save files between game modes much easier.

Here’s what to expect: You will now be presented with 5 save-game slots (each of which can be used for any game mode) – your existing saves will be mapped into these slots Selecting an empty slot will start a new game, allowing you to pick which game mode to play from the mode select menu There are now 2 sub-slots for each save-game (instead of 3) – one for auto saves, and one for manual saves Starting a brand new game with no existing saves will take you directly to mode select Note for experimental: while saves are forwards compatible with 1.38, save files are not backwards compatible with 1.37. For this reason, when you first run 1.38, an automatic backup of your save file will be stored in your save folder, in case you wish to return to 1.37.

*So In Case you fine folk aren’t fully sure, any progress that you make while in cannot then be transferred to 1.37, using your backup will bring you back to exactly when those backups were saved. This isn’t a huge issue as this will be going live shortly and if you are like me where you wish to perform multiple tests between the game versions, you can still access 1.37, just not with that progress. Something else to keep in mind with all patches and experimental updates is to manually backup your save file to a safe location. Whenever I do something to test or of questionable stability or of course when a new patch comes in, I manually backup my save files, this, of course, can only be done on PC, unfortunately, I’m not aware of a way to manually backup your files on PS4, but the automatic backup implemented for this patch is likely enough in this specific situation.

The method for manually backing up your save files is to click your windows search bar and simply put in %appdata%, this will locate your AppData folder which is a hidden folder that by default cannot be seen in the folder directory. Inside the AppData folder, you need to find the Hello Games folder, inside that there is a folder called NMS and inside that there is your save folder which will have an alphanumerical string for its name. Copy and paste this folder to a safe location, I put mine in a folder called NMS Save Files that I placed in my Documents Folder, I, in turn, create a folder for each save folder that has the date of the backup as the name for easy organization. That’s pretty much it, let me know what you guys think of the new save system down below. As for the rest of the Major changes; A lot of work has been done on the Analysis Visor to sort of polish its features; • The Analysis Visor can now be used to scan farm plants and see the remaining growth time • Analysis Visor can scan ships to determine their class, type and value at a distance • The Analysis Visor can be used to see the approximate distance of resources discovered with the Scanner *These are some good quality of life changes, the last of which I’m not sure was really, all that necessary, but still, it’s a feature that helps few but hinders none, so all good.

• Added the ability to skip black bars when discovering a planet or solar system *FINALLY! This has been something I’ve personally wanted and have seen mentioned, I think, since the game was released, they did make it less intrusive with milestone pretty soon after release but the black bars have always been a bit of an issue, having a skip button gives the best of both worlds with keeping the effect of the cinematic climax for those that wish it while having the option to skip when patience is running thin. I would suggest to HG Developers to maybe also add an option in the main menu to actually turn the Black Lines off completely if so wished, negating the need to skip every time.

• Prevented the cursor being reset to the center of the page as you switch between pause menus *Ok, fine, this isn’t a major change, but by golly, it annoys me when it keeps resetting, throws you off on the cursor location sometimes, glad this is sorted. • Trade outposts now provide hazard protection *Another excellent change, a lot of these changes fell like fixes, but they aren’t technically fixes as they were working as intended before, was strange to sort all of these patch notes this time around. Some may have noticed from the first edition of the Hunt for Organic Catalyst that this very noticeably affected me in video, quite annoying when you’re on an extreme planet and just trying to talk to some folk. • Restored Spectral Class to the galaxy map text *Another one that isn’t all that major as far as what it has done, but it’s very welcome, this one was definitely for the Pedants.

• Made trading terminal stock values replenish over time *This has been an issue since the last patch was implemented, I had seen evidence myself until this fix/not fix, but viewers had mentioned this and I had also seen an account on the forums so good it’s fixed! • Separated stock levels for trading posts and space stations in the same system *Good change folks, good change that leads into the next one! • Improved trading by giving NPCs independent stock levels *Very glad they’ve done this, it was very dull in trading at time when you get to a star system and everyone sells everything and buys everything for exactly the same amounts in the entire system.

Mini-Economies seem logical within systems, so this is a welcome and valid change. • Improved NPC ship target selection in space battles, prevented them reacting to accidental player fire *Ok, this is very nice, it can be super annoying to get a single shot miss your enemy and hit an ally or freighter to then be made the bad guy, quite happy they done this one. • Added ability to transfer items to and from containers in your base or freighter & • Corrected Roamer and Rover inventories appearing incorrectly in the transfer window *The latter is a fix but they seemed good together, this is as with most a welcome change, the transfer system is really coming together now. • Added protection to allow the Mind Arc step of the Artemis story to be completed even if a player deletes their base *Hopefully this is the last of the required fixes to make that friggin’ questline work, If any of you fine folk are still experiencing issues with this Artemis questline, let me know below. • Added ability to sell items from ship cargo slots at terminals *Another excellent trading change, one that of course should have been there all along but you know how things are, can’t have everything, better late than never.

And lastly the more notable Bug Fixes; • Fixed an issue where base parts, including storage containers, built outside the base building radius in unlimited building mode would not be transferred when the player moved to a new base *This would be infuriating, not only would your resources disappear but I imagine the majority of player wouldn’t even notice as if you base is big enough to utilize the restrictionless building, you probably would notice missing resource from a flash look and likely just shrug it off. • Fixed an issue where NPC ships would stop outside the entrance of freighters and space stations in systems with no trade routes *This was so damn annoying, so so glad this is fixed now. • Fixed an issue where the terrain manipulator would occasionally create longer lines than intended *Another annoying thing fixed, thank goodness, when you’re putting the finishing details on a masterpiece and BAM! 50-foot long tunnel… SON OF A! • Fixed issue where a blue eye icon would occasionally appear over the crosshair *Super happy this is fixed now, was getting rather annoyed with that dang eye pointing to a mixture of nothingness and anomalies.

• Fixed an issue where the Space Anomaly could remain in the player’s home system indefinitely *Not sure how I feel about this one, this has provided me with an Anomaly whenever I wanted which refreshed over time, I only used it 3 times but ya know, was nice to know it was there! Aaaaaand that… is… it, a fairly humungous list of changes and fixes, I’m almost worrying just how many dang bugs are in this game, I mean I knew it was buggy but how many more are left if after so many weeks they’re still making fix lists this long. Regardless, they are fixing it which is all we can ask for. Let me know how you feel about these changes or whether your pissed they haven’t fixed a specific bug you still suffer from like me and my damn 16th glyph! Remember to hit that like button if this video helped you at all, share this info with your fellow travellers, subscribe if you haven’t already and I’m curious how many of you actually make it to the last few seconds of my videos, so if you did, let’s try something, try working the word ‘Nugget’ into a comment, all of us listening now will know what it means, but those who left early won’t have the foggiest why everyone is talking like a prospector! Thanks for watching folks and have an utterly extravagantly sexcellent day!
