Hi everyone, ThrillGame back again with another Apex Legends video. In this video I will be reviewing and ranking all the submachine guns in Apex Legends. This the second part of my Apex Legends Weapon Review Series. If you haven’t seen the first part, check it out here. Next up are Assault Rifles including the new Havoc rifle. I’ll review every gun individually and then I’ll rank them. Let’s start with the R-99. The R99 is a fully automatic SMG. It has the highest rate of fire among all weapons currently standing at 1080RPM. On body shots it does 12 damage per round. On headshots it does 18 damage per round. It has a maximum headshot range of 40 meters. It can hold up to 18 rounds per magazine. The attachments it can use are Barrel Stabeliser, Extended Mag, Optic and Stock.

It’s recoil is vertical and curves to the right. The R-99 has great DPS and somewhat controllable recoil. Due to it’s initial small magazine size you’ll have to land most of your shots on the body or land headshots to kill with a single mag. Due to the short maximum headshot range and the recoil, this weapon is most effective at close range. Next up is the Alternator. The Alternator is a fully automatic SMG. It has the lowest fire rate of all SMG’s at 640 rounds per minute but also has very controllable recoil. On body shots it does 13 damage per round. On headshots it does 19 damage per round. It has a maximum headshot range of 40 meters. It can hold up to 16 rounds per magazine. The attachments it can use are Barrel Stabeliser, Extended Mag, Optic and Stock. It’s recoil is vertical which is why it can easily be controlled by pulling down.

The alternator has an even smaller magazine size than the R-99. However, the lower fire rate and more controllable recoil makes the weapon easier to handle. To keep up with the time to kill of other weapons you should focus on gettting headshots with this weapon which shouldn’t be too difficult considering it’s stability. And last but not least, the Prowler Burst PDW. The burst has a fire rate of 800 rounds per minute. The Prowler is a 5-round burst SMG which can be made automatic with the Select Fire Hop-Up Attachment. One round of the 5-round burst does 14 damage to the body and 21 damage to the head. A full 5-round burst does 70 damage to the body and 105 damage to the head. It has a maximum headshot range of 40 meters. It can hold up to 20 rounds. The attachments it can use are the Extended Mag, Optic, Stock and Select Fire Hop-Up.

It’s recoil is vertical with a curve to the left and a significant vertical kick on the first burst fire. The Prowler is a weapon that I tend to avoid as I think automatic SMG’s are better in close ranges because you use them more in high-pressure situations. Burst weapons shine in the mid range which is where the Hemlok would perform much better. Howwever, when I find the Hop-Up attachment first or not too far away from the Prowler, I will always use it in full-auto mode.

So, how do I rank them? #1 R-99 #2 Prowler #3 Alternator The R-99 has the highest DPS and it’s only downsides are the small magazine size which the other SMG’s have as well and the recoil which is controllable and not terrible in the range that you would best use this in. The Prowler does come close as it has less recoil in it’s automatic fire mode than the R-99 which makes it more usable at longer distances and still has comparable DPS. It also has a larger magazine size by default which makes it easier to get kills without having to reload. The reason why it’s ranked lower is because it only beats the R-99 in it’s automatic fire mode which requires a hop-up. It’s better to get used to a gun that is great when you pick it up rather than your playstyle relying on finding one specific attachment. SMG’s shine in close ranges and a burst weapon doesn’t perform as well in those situations.

Burst-fire shines in mid-range and the Hemlok already covers that. So the Prowler is only worth using in it’s automatic fire mode and you can only do that when you have the hop-up attachment. The Alternator has the lowest fire rate, only deals 1 more damage than the R-99 on both bodyshots and headshot and even has a lower magazine size. It only has lower recoil but that alone does not make up for the other poor stats it has. That does it for SMGs. In the next video I will review the Assault Rifles including the new Havoc rifle.
