Hey everyone, I hope you’re well. Today, I want to talk about a strategy I’ve always thought about using in Apex Legends, but I’ve never really had the chance. With the way the new ranked meta has evolved, it’s now finally possible to put it into action. So we, all know about armor swapping right? It’s when you quickly swap to new armor just as a player takes down your health – you instantly get more health back. Well, this strategy is going to take things to another level. It takes a bit of preparation but with how the last rings work with many teams camping in a small area, it’s certainly possible to pull off. So the strategy is like this – near the last rings, you set up by pooling together as many armors as you can find. Either by using armor that’s on the ground near you, or from armor that’s in death boxes. You make a little pile of them. So now you have your little bird’s nest, fashionably built with all sorts of colorful armors.
The next step is to sit on that nest and not move a muscle. Keep those armors nice and warm. Next, you have multiple choices. Either you wait for players to push you, or you try to bait players into your nest. And when they do, you have this almost endless supply of armor to swap out to. You can go from having 200 health to potentially having over 500. So, I’ve yet to make this strategy work completely well, but we can take a look at some examples of where it could have some use. So, what about long ranged sniping? If you manage to get a headshot on a player, but also get headshotted, it puts you in a situation usually where you have to back off and heal up, and lose that potential kill.
With the armor swaps available, that’s no longer an issue. Another potential option is to set up camp in a house with a trapper legend and have your armor ready to swap there. The great thing here is that if you play caustic, you can even hide your armor under your gas traps and players aren’t likely to see them. And here’s another little thing that many people don’t realise. If you swap to new armor, say you switch your broken purple out for some level 1 armor on the ground. Whatever HP that armor has will remain that HP, even for enemies.
It doesn’t work the same way as it does in a death box – it doesn’t refresh. So, if you swap out your armor and there’s some broken level 3 on the floor, if an enemy picks that up, they then have zero armor. And, if you then kill them, you can pick it up and it will be refreshed again. It’s like a free armor cleaning service. I’ve had this happen so many times on stream, but unfortunately I can’t quite track down a clip.
So for the final strategy, we have the option to set up a nest and then place them around a corner. Then, when players push you, you can keep repeeking the corner, and each time you go back into cover, you can pick up new armor. So that’s pretty much it for this strategy. It’s not some groundbreaking stuff, but it’s just a little bit of a more creative way to take armor swapping. And, if you notice a quiet time in the late game where you have a lot of death boxes, it can be worth the effort to take the armor out of those boxes, drop it on the ground and prepare yourself a nice little nest.
Alright that’s it from me. What do you think of this crazy strategy? And do you have any strategies like this you would be willing to try in ranked? Let me know. And make sure to subscribe for more daily Apex videos like this one. Alright, thanks for watching. I’ll see you in the comments. Cheerio!.
