I got a lot of questions and replies on my main healer Xingqui comment on a post in this reddit. So I decided after tuning his artifacts enough that I would make a full guide to healer Xingqui.
DISCLAIMER: I played final closed beta, but never used Xingqui. I am currently AR 43, and have been building and toying with Xingqui since AR40, so I’m by no means an expert, but I would still like to show this fun build. All the stuff here is just my personal opinion, I would love to hear everyone else’s thoughts and variations :)!
I’m also not saying that this is the best build for Xingqui! He is an EXTREMELY flexible character and this is just one of the paths you can go. I personally find main healer Xingqui super fun and enjoyable.
(also sorry if the formatting of this is garbage, this is my first long form reddit post ><…)
Xingqui can be built as the main healer/support for teams including up to Wold rank 5 (AR40) and I assume higher.
AR40+: 2-set Maiden Beloved (+15% heal), 2-set Noblesse Oblige (+20% Elemental burst)
HP% / Hydro dmg %/ Healing %
< AR 40: 4-set Exile (+20% energy recharge + E-Burst regens 2 energy for all party ever 2s for 6s)
OR: 2 set Exile (+20% energy recharge) + 2 set Scholar (+20% energy recharge)
HP% / Hydro dmg % / Healing % is ideal, otherwise extra HP% or maybe even energy recharge %
Best Weapon: 4* Sacrificial Sword (Energy recharge secondary), 40%+ chance to refresh Elemental
skill cooldown when it damages an opponent) every 30 seconds.
Ideally constellation 1 unlocked
How does Xingqui work as healer/support?
Xingqui is able to support your team in 2 main ways: Reducing damage taken, and by healing your team. Both his Elemental skill and Burst generate swords around the characters which reduce the damage your character takes by a %, and heals your characters when they break or disappear.
Xingqui’s Ascension 1 talent gives his swords 6% healing of your max hp when it breaks or disappears. They also reduce the damage taken by character by 20% (+1% per additional talent level) + 20% of your hydro bonus damage.
Why not Barbara?
Barbara is a fantastic healer that is also free to get until 1.1; she has a lot of strong points, but also some weaknesses compared to xingqui as a healer/support.
Her advantages is that she heals more overall than Xingqui, and her ult is a burst whole team heal. Her main downsides are that she effectively no damage as a main healer, doesn’t apply wet status well, and always gets your team frozen against cyro units.
Xingqui heals less than barbara overall, does not have a burst heal that heals large amounts / the whole team. But where he has the advantage is that he reduces incoming damage taken, he deals notable damage even without att/damage investment, and is EXCELLENT at applying wet status.
(NOTE: The only time Xingqui applies wet to yourself is a small moment during your elemental skill animation, meaning otherwise he wont cause you to get frozen).
|Xingqui Pos +||Xingqui Neg –||Barbara Pos +||Barbara Neg –|
|Reduces damage taken||No burst heal||Heals a lot||Does little to no damage as full healer|
|Applies wet status to your enemies well||Doesn’t heal as much as Barbara||Burst heal for the whole team||Gets your team frozen by cyro often|
|Deals respectable damage|
|Doesn’t wet yourself easily|
In all honestly tho, unless you get lucky and pull Jean or Qiqi, you will need 2 healers for abyss, so you will probably end up using and build both Barbara and Xingqui (or noelle/bennet).
Does Xingqui need constellations to work as a main healer/support?
Short answer: No!
4 out of 6 of Xingqui’s constellations increase his damage output and are not needed to be a support, the other 2 are helpful (Const 1 and const 5).
Ideally you would like to get Xingqui to constellation 1 so that he gets 1 more sword (he starts with 3, goes to 4). 1 more sword means that you get 33% more healing from your elemental skill and burst. While its not necessary to get constellation 1, it increases his ability to heal by a lot, and it is not the hardest thing to do given that he is in the rate up banner currently.
The other constellation that helps his ability to be a healer/support is constellation 5 which increases his elemental skill talent by 3 levels, effectively giving him 3% extra damage reduction. This is extremely NOT necessary, but it is a nice bonus.
What weapon is best for a healer/support Xingqui?
In my option the best weapon for healer Xingqui is the 4* Sacrificial Sword (even better than 5* swords). It does two very important things that helps Xingqui; it gives him energy recharge as a secondary stat, and it refreshes the cooldown on his elemental skill. This means that his burst will be up more often and skill will have a change to reset cooldown. Leading to overall more healing and damage reduction.
NOTE: While Xingqui’s elemental burst is out, his swords do NOT break when you are hit, meaning for the full 15 second duration, you will reduce ALL damage taken by the listen skill amount, and when it runs out, you will heal for the full amount of the # of swords you have disappearing.
Sacrificial Sword Lvl 80 w/ Refinement 2
Other weapons you can use if you don’t have Sacrificial Sword is Favonius Sword (4*) or Skyward blade (5*) which both give you energy recharge as a secondary which is very important to Xingqui as healer/support. If you don’t have either of those, just give him any other spare 4*+ sword that you have, tho it won’t be ideal for this build.
What are the best artifact sets for a healer/support Xingqui?
Xingqui’s role as healer and support is to use his elemental skill and burst often to reduce damage your team takes, and to healer them. The artifacts you use should support one or both of those things.
Before AR 40
4-set Exile (+20% energy recharge + E-Burst regens 2 energy for all party ever 2s for 6s)
OR: 2 set Exile (+20% energy recharge) + 2 set Scholar (+20% energy recharge)
Without easy access to advance artifacts, you should focus on giving Xingqui as much energy recharge as you can get so that his Elemental burst is almost always up, therefore reducing the damage your team takes, and healing them.
2-set Maiden Beloved (+15% heal), 2-set Noblesse Oblige (+20% Elemental burst)
Once you hit AR40, artifact domains start dropping 5* artifacts, and you can start farming for more “late-game” sets. I would NOT recommend wasting resin on farming artifacts until you are AR40+.
I like maiden beloved 2 set and noblesse oblige 2 set as late game artifacts for healer Xingqui. Maiden beloved increases the healer you output by 15%. And noblesse oblige increase your elemental burst damage by 20% which is actually very helpful in boosting the extra damage it gives your team.
Why not maiden beloved 4-set?
The problem with the 4-set of maiden beloved is it only increases the healing received by your team for 10 seconds, but your burst and skills last 15 seconds. This means that if you use your elemental burst it will not get the extra bonus healing (…unless technically you use the elemental skill after 5 seconds).
Same for your elemental skill. The 4-set will only heal extra if you get hit and your sword breaks within 10 seconds of using it.
Why not energy recharge artifact 2-set?
The problem with exile and scholar artifacts, which both give 20% elemental recharge, is that they can only go up to 4* artifact. This means you cannot get a 5* version of them which would greatly increases the base stats/substats, and stat increments of the artifacts.
So for a late game build AR40+, the next most useful artifact that has a 5* variant is noblesse oblige. Xingqui while being a full healer still does quite a fair amount of damage (see build section), so the 20% burst damage is useful for your team.
Currently there is a fire, geo, and lightning artifact that boost 15% elemental damage, and with 4-set they improve the reaction of the element. I’m going to assume in the future there will be a hydro equivalent artifact. When that time comes, I HIGHLY recommend that you either use a 4-set of it, or a 2-set hydro artifact and a 2-set maiden beloved (for AR40+).
This is because 15% hydro damage will increase the amount of damage reduction you have which an extremely important reason why Xingqui can work as a main healer/support.
What stats should my artifacts be?
In my opinion the three artifact stats you should ideally get is HP%, Hydro damage %, and Healing %
HP%: Increases the amount of healing your swords do.
Hydro damage %: Increases the amount of damage reduction your swords give.
Healing %: Greatly increases the amount of healing your swords do.
Hydro damage % and healing % are VERY good and ideal but they can be hard to find. So if you can’t find them, you can also substitute them for more HP% or Energy recharge %.
Ideal sub-stats on your artifacts ?
HP% / energy recharge % >> Elemental mastery > flat HP/ Att%/ Crit Rate % > everything else
NOTE: These artifact recommendations are based on making Xingqui the strongest healer/support he can possibly be. Often if you don’t need as much healing, or are using him as a secondary healer, you can give him more substats into elemental mastery, Att%, Crit rate %, crit damage % to increase the amount of damage he does.
My Current Build
Talents and Constellations:
NOTE: I just want to repeat again, that even though I have Xingqui at max constellations, they are 100% NOT necessary to make him a good main healer/support. Tho having constellation 1 is very helpful in increasing his healing by 33%.
Damage and Healing amounts:
My personal Xingqui, with the stats and artifacts above, have the following battle stats:
Damage reduction from swords = 39% (Keep in mind swords don’t break during elemental burst!)
Healing per sword = 1662 hp, x4 swords = 6649 hp
All the following damage are against a basic hiluchurl (w/e its called):
Basic attack = 155-220 ish (DO NOT USE BASIC ATTACK)
Elemental Skill = 2100-2400 damage x 2 hits = 4200-4800 damage
Elemental burst = 776 per blade, or 884 per blade after const 2 damage reduction.
Each burst attack does 2/3 blades per (or 2/3/5 blades with constellation 6)
As you can see, even though my Xingqui is not built for damage at all (besides hydro bonus damage), he still does a very respectable amount of elemental skill and burst damage. On the other hand the 39% damage reduction is HUGE, especially with enough energy recharge keeping your burst up often. This is the main reason why Xingqui can work so well as a main healer/support.
I hope this guide helped you understand the potential Xingqui has as a team’s main healer/support. I find his play style extremely fun, and his kit to be extremely useful while providing extra damage to your team, and easier elemental reactions.
This guide does not have a focus on hybrid damage/support Xingqui builds as I really wanted to focus on his viability as a full support. Hybrid builds on Xingqui also work amazingly, ESPECIALLY if using him as as secondary healer / support (EG Main dps + elemental support + xingqui hybrid + main healer)
I would love to hear other peoples experience with Xingqui’s various builds, and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments, and I’ll try my best to answer them :)!
