Hey, guys! Welcome to Body Count Fighting and this is the Hitbox where we give you tips, tricks and combos to all of your favorite fighting game characters. I’m your host, Kyle Shire alongside… Shayan Tamayo. And today in the studio, we got DJA who’s going to show us some pro Swamp Thing in Injustice 2. Is it nice to be here? It is nice to be here. There we go. It’s nice to be here. All right! [CHUCKLES] Yeah, show us what everyone at home who is like, “Oh! Swamp Thing is trash.” Show them what they don’t know. Well, Swamp Thing is trash. Oh! Oh! Okay. All right! He’s like it’s trash but I touch it and it turns to gold. I just deal with him and I try my best to be good with him. I like your attitude, okay. So why don’t you show us like a good basics Swamp Thing combo. Well, the mid screen combo is basically any starter into his launcher, which is back 4, 3 and to down back 3. -Whoa! -Very nice. That was a lot of damage. It is a lot of damage. My favorite move that Swamp Thing does is the flippy-floppy, with just a little — Oh, the shoulder thing? No, just when he goes…

Oh! -Yeah, there we go. -Flippy-floppy. Yeah, the shoulder thing. Yeah. Is that a shoulder thing? It looks like it comes from the elbow. It comes from the elbow. Oh, it does. Yeah, you’re wrong. Right there. But it sounds so — I believe it’s an elbow flippy-floppy. Can we get in a zoom in on that and have people comment and judge if it comes from the elbow and Okay, CSI Miami. Just saying. [CHUCKLES] So, would you say Swamp Thing’s combos are pretty relying on the background? He does way more damage with the background. If you have a map without the background, he still do a decent 424, 442. -Very nice. -Wow! And if you want to go for the kill and you have two bars sorry about that.

You go for the EX and then it does about 478. -Whoa! -So 30% more. For about Batman, it’s 1/3 of this all. Yeah. So off the background bounce, the gravity. Swamp Thing is known to be a very slow character, but we’ve seen you play him and you really are able to keep the pressure. I mean, even against characters like Flash. What would you say is your secret? Is it just timing? It’s about making reads and knowing how your opponent plays and adjusting to him. And you see with Marine, I used the trade to slow him down because he would always do the, the run man stance -Yeah. -into dash. So the trade would always slow him down and I also base my game play around keeping thing safe, keeping things neutral so I could…

That won him after since he tried pressing a button that was slower than eight frames. Since the little slide he does is negative 3, so every time, I just do down one to check him. Nice! So is down one kind of like your move to go to as far as the jab goes or is it back two? The move to go to for pressure is back two…

Down one is good to counter poke him, to slow him down a bit. Because down one, you could do… down one, command grab, which is a tick throw, which means an unblocked stun. To do a down one… down one slide, which is also pressure, you could do down three to keep them – since usually, the tri-back dashing after blocking a down one, and then they try not pressing a button, you could down one like that. Oh! But if they hold it, you could do this, which is a tick throw. So adding one, one into that and it tick throws and you do 200%. Oh! Two hundred…

That’s so interesting because his moves are kind of pushing him back at a safe distance where he can vine grab. Yeah, exactly. Is the corner the best place for where, for where you want your opponent to be as Swamp Thing? -Yes, because you got — -Yeah. Unlike mid screen, where the tree whiffs… see, how it whiffs. In the corner, all of it hits so he’s extremely gel buoyant. Yeah. And he could go for that tick throw. If it lands, you could go for this… for that bread and butter. So they either hold the frames or hold the damage. It’s one of those two. -Got you! -When they’re on the corner. How long have you, how long have you been playing Swamp Thing? Just as soon as it came out or –? Negative 3 after, that’s the game a bit earlier.

[CHUCKLES] Well, yeah, I’ve been playing him before this patch, I kind of gave up on him because Yeah. I just played it against a friend who’s really good with Deadshot and that match up was pretty hopeless. -So I was like -Yeah. And then I went Aquaman for a bit, but Aquaman got nerfed so I’m like, “I might as well go out with Swamp Thing now.” [CHUCKLES] What up? What about the new patch that gave Swamp Thing life for you? I think the trait being faster is good. Finally, with dash, it’s not going away. Yeah. Because before, I would dash and my trait would be gone. -Yeah. -Yeah. It will stop growing. Now even with jumps, jumps is still canceled, but jumps aren’t that useful. But now I could dash, I could… meter burn and roll. Look at all that patch. -Whoa! -Throw him It’s a great way to control the board basically. Yeah. The only other change I like is, the EX clone when it trades, like Swamp Thing just gets knock down on the clone, just hold him and he’s like, “Peace” and he leaves and I don’t get a teleport.

[CHUCKLES] I wish I would have one hit of armor if it landed, so I could just get my teleport to close in on zoners. It would help him a lot against that shot. For sure. Also another cool little trick with Swamp Thing is using the hit advantage of the clone to get the command grab. Very nice. It’s a pretty easy 160. Pretty easy. That 423. Now, what would you say like… as we wrap it up, what would you say as like your favorite like styling move for him? Favorite styling move. Like if you, like you know you got this and you’re basically a combo a teabag of combos if you will. Yeah. [CHUCKLES] Yeah, that one. The, the… where he makes the move like Flubber. No, no, no. He’s using the garden. Yeah, the tree punch is… Looks so godly as well. -It does. -It does. [CHUCKLES] And on cheap level, it’s just making them feel hopeless by chipping them out. Yeah. But my favorite move is a new combo with that. Since they can’t jump out of it, so they’re freaking out trying to jump to avoid the command grab.

Yeah. Meanwhile, they’re just stuck there and then command grab. Step in your flowers, hit dash. So basically, when it plants… But if they’re clear in that, I use… I just double heal on their face while they die. [CHUCKLES] Give me that health, give me that health. So basically, no for any Swamp Thing player use your, use your character powers in response, use the garden because it definitely helps him set up. It depends on the match ups, like against a character like Flash as you saw, he’s all about getting in. So the trade will just slow him down. But it’s used against like Deadshot. But Deadshot, he doesn’t care, he just keeps on shooting at you while you’re in your garden helpless.

Yeah. [CHUCKLES] Well, you’re Martha Stewart and go over there. [CHUCKLES] All right! Well DJA, thank you so much for coming by and showing us your pro Swamp Thing moves. Much appreciated brother.
