Hello! It is I, Dragon Souped, also known as Saltasaur in-game. Building a house on land is easy. Underwater, you might run into some problems. In this video, I’ll be showcasing how to build houses underwater. The first and arguably easiest way to do so is to find the side of a mound or hill, place a water-stopping block such as a door there and hollow the place out. Your house will be well hidden if this is done correctly. If you’re an expert at redstone, you could completely hide it using a piston door. When building this type of house on a server, be mindful that an unassuming player might dig downwards into your house. The second way to do so is more time-comsuming, but you don’t need to find a hill to make this kind of house.
Build out a structure made of a cheap or easy-to-break block, then surround it with an outer wall. Go inside and break the placeholder blocks afterwards. Sand, gravel and dirt are easy to come by. TNT and slime blocks can be broken with one hit when in Survival, making the clearing process extremely fast. If you plan to build next to an Ocean Monument, TNT and slime blocks will be better for the job since the Elder Guardians inside the monument will slow down mining. The third way to make a house underwater is to build an outer wall, then clear out the water inside with sponges. A sponge will absorb water when placed next to it. As sponges are hard to come by other than killing Elder Guardians, this method is best used in Creative. This is technically possible in Survival, though.
If you do need to use this method in Survival, be sure to have some furnaces. Sponges will turn wet after use and must be dried using a furnace before using again. For survivalists wanting to make an underwater house, you’ll need to be prepared. Bring blocks with air pockets such as doors so that you don’t drown while building. If you want to stay in the water for longer, I suggest wearing a Respiration helmet or drinking a Water Breathing potion. Building a conduit also helps. You’ll also need a quick way to get in and out of the water. You could use bubble columns generated by soul sand and magma blocks, or the old-fashioned ladder. Bring Night Vision potions and lots of light-emitting blocks since it will be very dark down there. Equip yourself with a weapon in case any hostile mobs attack. If you’re rich in resources, activate a beacon with the Speed effect to get around the build more easily. Well, that’s all I have for today.
