Mobile Legends Ling Guide By: Snoo-6379

Hello, today I will make a guide about the Assassin hero, Ling!

Ling is an Assassin known for his ability to move on walls very quickly. He can go in and out of fights easily, as all of his skills can be used as for an escape. He is considered an easier fanny, both using walls to power their mobility.

Skill Overview

Passive: Cloudwalker

Ling’s Finch Poise and Defiant Sword consume Lightness Points to cast his skills. When resting on a wall, Ling regenerates 2 Lightness Points per second, while dealing damage to enemies will restore 5 Lightness Points per second.
He is given 15% Critical Chance, but decreases his Critical Damage by 140%.

Note: You may not notice it, but when you hit an enemy with Defiant Sword, Ling actually gains lightness points. This way, you don’t lose energy as often.

Skill 1: Finch Poise

Passive: Ling permanently increases his Critical Chance by 5% / 7.50% / 10% / 12.50% / 15% / 17.50%.
Active: Ling leaps to a designated wall, and entering half-stealth state.
When Ling receives damage, he will end half-stealth state.
When Ling leaps to another wall using this skill, this skill will reset its cooldown and refresh his half-stealth state.

Note: Some people don’t know what half-stealth state is. Half-stealth state means enemies have no idea where you are on the minimap. However, if you are near the enemy, they will still see you. There are places on the map where you can hide in bushes while on the wall.

Skill 2: Defiant Sword

Ling charges in the designated direction and stabs nearby enemies at his destination, dealing 190 / 205 / 220 / 235 / 250 / 265 (+50% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to them.
If Ling casts this skill while on the wall, he will dash to a designated spot on the ground, having a delay of 0.5 second and then dealing 190 / 205 / 220 / 235 / 250 / 265 (+50% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to them and slowing them down by 30% for 1.5 seconds. If this skill deals critical damage, enemies in the area will be slowed by 45% for 0.75 second.
This skill triggers Basic Attack effects and restore 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 HP everytime he hits an enemy.

Note: An important part of Ling builds is that Defiant Sword triggers Basic Attack effects. This is important for his build, as items such as Endless Battle’s passives will be triggered upon use of Defiant Sword. Also, this skill’s actual range is much larger than the icon indicates. In the early game, you can even use this skill to poke.

Ultimate/Skill 3: Tempest of Blades

Ling leaps up and casts his superb sword skill for 1.5 seconds, during which he becomes invincible, gaining 10% Movement Speed and can move freely, dealing 250 / 350 / 450 (+200% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to enemies within the area of effect, knocking up enemies in the center for 1 second, and generating a Sword Field that lasts for 5 seconds.

At the cardinal directional edge of the Sword Field, there will be 4 Field Eyes that by touching it, it will reset the cooldown of Defiant Sword and restore 5 Lightness Points.

Note: You can use this skill to escape. You become invincible for a little bit, allowing you to move away and jump onto a wall. Try aiming the center at your enemies because it knocks them up. You will notice there is a blue spot at the center indicating where the enemies will be airborne. You may also notice you can aim Defiant Sword while in the air. There will be icons at the edge of your ultimate’s area, which is where the 4 field eyes will spawn. This is where you should aim Defiant Sword.

Since everyone’s playstyles are different, I will list recommended items and my build.

You can use Warrior Boots for defense, or Tough Boots for control time reduction. Magic Shoes is playable to shorten cooldowns, but I prefer Warrior Boots. Some builds don’t even use boots.

Defense Items:

Queen’s Wings greatly reduces your damage taken and chances to escape, and Immortality is another item I’ve seen in builds.

Jungle Items:

The only jungle item I use is Raptor Machete for quick jungling and PEN. As I see it, there is no other option.

Attack Items:

There are many attack items you can use for Ling. Here is a list:

Demon Hunter Sword: Fast attack speed and Devour is powerful against tankier heroes.

Windtalker: You benefit from Crit Chance you get from items like Berserker’s Fury (which brings me to…)

Berserker’s Fury: Massive Crit Chance increase and ATK. Perfect for Ling since Defiant Sword can trigger Critical Hits. I consider this a Core Item.

Endless Battle:

I think this is another core item. Movement speed helps Ling escape and since Ling relies on farm Divine Justice will deal tons of damage from other items which increase physical atk (aka all of them).

Blade of the Heptaseas:

This item is cheaper than the others and the damage it deals is high, so this is a pretty useful item.

Scarlet Phantom:

If you’re going for a full crit build then I recommend this item along with Windtalker and Berserker’s Fury. This way you gain a lot of atk speed and crit chance.

Haas Claws:

Defiant Sword can trigger lifesteal, which helps Ling sustain. Don’t use Bloodlust Axe as Defiant Sword does not trigger Skill effects (like Spell Vamp).

Blade of Despair:

High physical atk and movement speed helps Ling a ton.

My build (in prioritized item order):

Raptor Machete

Warrior BootsCou

Demon Hunter Sword

Endless Battle

Berserker’s Fury

Blade of Despair

Spare Items (if it becomes really really really late game. sell Raptor Machete for one of these depending on enemy team comp):

Queen’s Wings against mages and damage dealers

Immortality against physical heroes and uncertain chances of kills (so you can escape).

Ling gets countered by hard cc. Heroes like Eudora, Ruby, or Chou can wreck him. An adequate Natalia will sometimes be able to kill him as well.

Use Assassin Emblem. First row doesn’t matter about what you take. I use physical attack since his cooldowns are short as heck already and I play boots in my build so movement speed doesn’t matter very much. Second row you should pick Invasion so you can cut through defense more easily along with Raptor Machete. For third row choose Bounty Hunter. Ling is very dependent on farm so getting some kills early game will enhance his gold a lot more. Killing Spree may work, too. High and Dry is not very useful since you excel in teamfights.

Initiate on wall. Start with second skill since you can use it again afterwards. Next a quick basic attack for extra damage (second skill animation hides it). Next, use second skill and basic attack again. Finally, use Tempest of Blades and aim second skill at the icons where the 4 field eyes will appear. Keep chasing and finish them off.

How to play:

Early game: Start by killing red buff. You can kill enemy red buff if you’re certain the enemy won’t ambush you. If they have a Hanzo or something get the blue buff right away (you can solo it at lvl 1 by upgrading second skill). Kill only if you know you can kill them. You should have a teammate with you for killing. Also, after the red buff if you can’t secure a kill then get blue.

Mid game: Farm the squishies and go for some kills. Play half-aggressively. Continue farming turtle and Blue buff.

Late game: Be aggressive, continue getting blue buff. You should have most of your items.

Really, really, really late game: Exchange your Raptor Machete for Queen’s Wings/Immortality.

It was long, but thanks to those who read this!
