What’s up guys, Anders here with another No Man’s Sky video. This time we’re going to check out the upgrading tech system in the game and give you some idea of how it works since No Man’s Sky does a pretty poor job of explaining the intricacies of the process. There are three main items you’ll be upgrading through your time in No Man’s Sky. Your Exosuit which you use whenever you’re outside of your ship, your multi tool which you use to mine and defend yourself, and of course your ship. You may have noticed there are several types of tech upgrades belonging to the same base tech. These are primarily speaking Sigma, Tau, Theta, and Omega, though there are some specific cases where another level may be available. For the most part the way these levels work are like this. Sigma is the lowest upgrade, followed by Tau, then Theta, and finally Omega being the most powerful upgrade you can have. It is simple enough, but there are some things to be aware of.
If you have two of the same tech. One is Sigma and the other is Tau, normally you would just go and equip Tau since it has a stronger effect. This is true, but the game has a hidden bonus system that applies to tech upgrades you install. If you place similar tech next to each other, you will see a color coded line surrounding the set of upgrades. This means this set is receiving an added bonus effect to the original effect of the upgrade. So, if you have a Sigma and a Tau you can actually install them next to each other for added efficiency. This works for your Exosuit, Ship, and Multi-tool tech upgrades. The downside of course is inventory space as each tech you install takes up space and this can be a hassle early on in the game. Once you feel like you have enough space, I suggest laying out your inventory so that you can maximize the available technology you have acquired thus far. That’s pretty much how the upgrade system works in the game, simple yet a little confusing at first.
That’s all I got for you guys in this one. If you have any questions leave them in the comments and I’ll try and answer them. Thanks for watching, I’ll see you in the next one..
