Path Of Exile [Guide/Analysis] Lira Arthain Chayula/Blight Farming Strategy (~2,8ex/hour) By: ckresse

Hey folks,

so yesterday I participated in a conversion regarding whether or not the increased chance for Chayula on Watchstones is noticeable. In this conversation I stated that I made quite an amount of Exalted Orbs (~400+ in total) this season, using the Chayula Watchstones in the Lira Arthain region, but I couldn’t support this statement with any facts or (other) numbers, which is why I’ve ran 50 maps using the named strategy to collect some data – which I want to share with you:

Setup
Playstyle

I pretty much prepared the maps (see below), finished them as fast as possible (<50 mobs left) while clearing Chayula and Uul Breaches (and skipping all others Breach types). Additionally, I completed all Blight encounters and killed all map bosses, Conquerors and Sirus (in case they spawned).

Initial Investments

Assuming one didn’t invest anything into the Lira Arthain region yet, the following initial investments have to be made to make this strategy work:

  • Watchstones

  • Maps

    • 50x Racecourse map

      • Average price: 9c / map (trade link)

      • Total average investment: 450c

      • [this might be a lot cheaper if you buy them in bulk from TFT]

### Total initial investment: 1050c

Regular Investments

My preparation for the 50-map-session included (buying) the following:

  • Scarabs

    • 1x Rusted Blight Scarab per map

      • Average price: 9c / Scarab (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 450c

    • 1x Gilded Breach Scarab per map

      • Average price: 15c / Scarab (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 750c

  • Map Fragments

    • 1x Sacrifice at Dusk per map

      • Average price: 0,3c / fragment (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 15c

    • 1x Sacrifice at Dawn per map

      • Average price: 0,33c / fragment (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 17c

  • Zana Mod

  • Sextants

  • Map Juice

    • 4x Cartographer’s Chisel per map

      • Average price: 0,33c / chisel (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 66c

    • 1x Orb of Alchemy per map

      • Average price: 0,13c / orb (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 7c

    • 1x Vaal Orb per map

      • Average price: 0,3c / orb (trade link)

      • Total average investment (50 maps): 15c

    • 1x Chaos Orb (generalized) per map (assuming you can’t run all map modifiers and some will break due to vaaling)

### Total regular investment (50 maps): 1670c

### Total Revenue: 3802c

Income Statement

Total initial investment: -1050c

Total regular investment (50 maps): -1670c

Total investment: -2720c

———————————————————————

Total revenue from loot after 50 maps: +3802c

———————————————————————

Total profit after 50 maps (session 1): +1082c (7,2ex)

Total profit after 50 maps (session 2 and onwards; extrapolation): +2132c (14,2ex)*

———————————————————————

*Due to the fact that one doesn’t have to invest into maps or Watchstones in the 2nd, 3rd and upcoming sessions, the profit is almost doubled in comparison to the first session.

Profit per Hour

I finished 50 maps in 4 hours and 37 minutes. I think it’s fair to say that the initial preparation of maps, buying scarabs, etc. takes quite some time which is why I’d say I’ve spent around 5 hours in total in that session (might be even more depending on the supply, but let’s stay with 5 hours to make it easier). This corresponds to a profit of 426c (2,8ex) chaos per hour, beginning from the second session (due to the lack of initial investments).

Additional Revenue Potential

While not each and everyone of them guarantees an increase of the profit per hour, there are quite some sources for potential additional revenue (which I didn’t use because I either feel like they are not rewarding and/or disrupt my mapping flow):

  • Harvest (I did not run any of them)

  • Vaal Side Area (I did not run any of them)

  • Ultimatum (I did not run any of them)

  • Abyss (I did not run any of them)

  • Atlas Mission (I did not run any of them)

  • Complete Xoph, Esh or Tul Breaches (once it turned out it’s one of them I continued clearing the map)

Additionally:

  • I really feel like using sextants does nothing but decrease the amount of profit (around -200c/50maps) one gets with this strategy since normal mobs drop almost nothing (due to the sctrictness of the loot filter). Maybe someone has insights on why it is or can be profitable?!

  • While the map clear speed of the Racecourse map is pretty fast due to the static layout, I feel that maps like Marshes or Shipyard might be better overall [but I have no data on this (yet?)]

I’m pretty sure I missed some. Happy to hear all of them. So don’t hesitate to give me input/feedback (on everything).

Note

As almost every PoE farming strategy, this one doesn’t come with a guaranteed outcome due to the high variance. Some sessions will be more profitable than others. On top of that, I don’t state that this is the best (or even one of the best) strategies to make the most or the fastest profit. But you will definitely make a profit if you follow the above. How much and how fast depends on your build, on your clear speed and – of course – on your luck. The more you play, the more deterministic results you will get.

Cheers

PS2: Let’s hope I didn’t make any critical calculation mistakes.
