In theory, a bluff is trying to make your opponent believe you are gonna play the obvious way but instead you play offbeat.
In Urban Rivals, it can apply in thoses example situations:
Round 1, you start, you have Sheitane in your hand. Sheitane can be very dangerous if she win early in the game as she might be able to deal 9 ?unstoppables? damages over the battle. So if you play her without any pillz, your opponent will have almost no choice but to defend himself, either using a stop power, or a few pillz. Meaning you get either one stop power to worry about or a nice pillz advantage for the next round
Any round, you have Kenny, his +3 life per damage is very very frightening. So same rules apply as for Sheitane (obviously, don?t sacrifice Kenny if you NEED him to win).
Any round, you have a +attack character, good for you! On a round where no one spend any pillz, you will most certainly get a win otherwise, a nice pillz advantage
Any round, you have a ?blocker? character (someone with -damage), while you opponent will most certainly believe you are using him for his defensive ability, ATTACK (with few pillz)!
Thinking in less than 4 rounds
Even veterans players tends to always think a battle in 4 rounds.
If you can, try to see if you can get a win in 2 or 3 rounds (remember, you just need 5 damages and 7 damages to make 12 damages ), your opponent will most certainly be quite surprised
but..you should not play it very obviously..because when it?s too obvious..i.e. you always use your better cards to finish off the job..your opponent might expect it..so he/she?ll try to counter it..and it will mean your end, specially if you tried to use ?fury?
*remember..not all people think the same way..people think and play differently..and the best way to play is to play it safe..unless you are sure of what you are doing, then go ahead..thinking to finish off a battle in less than four rounds is very unexpected and can get people off guard..so I say it?s a nice tactic to play..
When to use Fury
Well, most of the time fury seems to be a waste of pillz?
It can be quite useful in many situations:
You have a character with +X life per damage. Using fury means doing at least 4 damages and sometime even more (Kenny with +2 lifes per damage mean you?ll get 6 more damages!).
If you apply lesson #2 ?thinking in less than 4 rounds?, fury is a good and quite unexpected way to reach your KO
Dont use fury at all if you really needs to win most of the forthcoming rounds. You better save thoses 3 pillz to get an attack advantage.
Why using one pillz matters
That one is quite simple.
As you know, you get a ?sureshot? if you have twice or more the attack of your opponent.
Hence, in a round with 2 cards with equals powers, if you put one pillz when your opponent doesnt put anything: you get a sureshot At the cost of only 1 pillz, it?s worth it, no?
This one pillz can be very powerful
When to let an opponents card go through
Some cards are very well just have those high attacks and powerful bonuses that you must waste a lot of pillz just to beat them..in most of these cases..one of the best tactics is to let the card through and not waste pillz..an example would be Zatman..he has such a high power and a pretty powerful bonus to boot, and the best way to play against him is to either let the 4damage through of block with a defensive card..that is..?if? you are high on life points and ?if? ?fury in mind?, Zatman can?t KO you..otherwise, if you are near a possible KO..you should do something about it, coz if you let it through, it might be the end of you..
Remember..life is a resource..your opponent or you shouldn?t and must not always go for a KO..having more life than your opponent is still a win..so use your life wisely..
When to use Blockers
If I have a big blocker..let?s say..Uranus..I don?t just block a first turn card with her..because I know most of my opponents expect me to use her as a defensive card..so I put out other of my cards instead with a few pillz to beat their card very unexpectedly..because most of the time..people are expected to put only one or a few pillz on their cards when they see a big blocker because it?s pill wasting if for example: I put 4-5pillz on Zatman and my opponent just blocks him with Uranus (it?s a complete waste of pillz!!) so more likely, an opponent would only put 1 or a few pillz in his/her card if he/she sees a blocker so you are open to attack him/her easily..as I said..it happens most of the time..so it doesn?t happen always..
Blockers..are actually good attackers and bluff finishers..unless your opponent is confident because he has a SOA or SOB that can get through a blocker..but aside from that..blockers are good attackers..they reduce damage..so more likely, your opponent won?t go to lengths to waste his best cards or pillz just to beat a card that reduces damage unless he sees through it and feels that you are already trying to finish him off or his life points are threatened that can make the big game difference of losing a match..
Blockers can also be used to ensure victory and seal the deal..let?s say for example..you only have two cards left..a decent blocker and a good card that can attack well and it?s your opponent?s turn to go first..since you have a decent blocker, your opponent will ?likely? not waste too much pillz because the last remaining rounds are crucial and can be the deciding rounds so most players just play it safe, so you can let your attacker card out with enough pillz to get through or even fury if needed to ensure victory if your opponent?s remaining card in the last round can be easily blocked by your remaining blocker card..but this does not always happen..but in most cases..it does..because basically..when a player is faced with a big blocker, the first thing that usually comes into mind is..?I don?t want to waste too much pillz on you since you can easily block my attack and it can be the end of me if you are ahead in pillz?.
with the above tactic..you are likely applying the ?thinking within less than four rounds? move..since you are attacking in the third round and blocking last to ensure victory..
but as always..this tactic does not have to be applied always..you just have to know when is the right time to use a blocker to block, or bluff and attack..
