I’ll keep this part short. This is a (hopefully) refined version of a modding guide that I created a while ago. I’ll be explaining how to USUALLY mod weapons from certain classes. This is just my perspective on how to mod, and there might be some things that are not entirely objective.

Primaries

Mandatories: Serration and Split Chamber

Crit

Mandatories, point strike, vital sense, 2 90% elementals.

2 slots left. For these two slots, there are 4 viable options. Hellfire, Hunter: Munitions, Vigilante: armaments, Vile Acceleration (and if the weapon has a good AoE-range, maybe Primed Firestorm)

If the weapon has a really low status chance and/or firerate, You’ll want to use Electric +Toxin for your 90% elementals and Vigilante: Armaments + Hunter: Munitions for the two remaining slots.

If the weapon has a decent fire-rate and/or status chance, you’ll want to use Cold + Toxin for your 90% elementals and Vile Acceleration + Hellfire for the two remaining slots.

Status

Mandatories, Vile Acceleration, Malignant Force, Rime Rounds, Thermite Rounds, Vigilante: Armaments

1 slot left. For this slot, there are 3 viable options. Hellfire, Fanged Fusillade and Heavy Caliber.

If the weapon has a large percentage of slash as part of it’s base-damage, use Fanged Fusillade. If the weapon doesn’t need to be very accurate (because it has AoE), use heavy caliber. If none of the two, use Hellfire.

Hybrid

Mandatories, Point strike, vital sense, malignant force, rime rounds.

2 slots left. For these two slots, there are 4 viable options. Termite rounds, Fanged Fusillade, Vigilante: armaments and vile Acceleration.

If the weapon has a lot of slash as part of its base-damage, use Fanged Fusillade. If not, use termite rounds. If the weapon has a high firerrate, use vile Acceleration. If not, use Vigilante: armaments.

Shotguns

A bit harder to generalize, since they are often more varied stat-wise than Primaries.

Mandatories: Point Blank, Hell Chamber, Vigilante Armaments

Crit

Mandatories, Blunderbuss, Ravage, Hunter: Munitions, 90% Toxin + Electric

Important note: You’re often better off with a hybrid-build, even on weapons with a lot of crit and low status.

Status

Mandatories, Frigid Blast, Toxic Barrage, Blaze/scattering inferno

1 slot left. The last slot can be filled with either shotgun spazz/(chilling reload if you’re modding Tigris), An elemental mod for heat, or shotgun savvy.

Hybrid

Mandatories, Blunderbuss, Ravage, toxic barrage, frigid blast.

1 slot left. Fill it with Hunter: Munitions if the build is rather Crit-focused or blaze/scattering inferno if the focus lies on status.

Secondaries

Mandatories: Hornet strike, lethal torrent, barrel diffusion.

Crit

Mandatories, Target Cracker, Pistol gambit. 90% Electric + Toxic.

1 slot remains. Fill it with either anemic agility if the firerrate is already pretty high. If not, magnum force if accuracy isn’t needed and heated charge if it is.

Status

Mandatories, pistol pestilence, frostbite, anemic agility

2 slots left. Fill them with either scorch + heated charge if the weapon doesn’t have a lot of slash as base-damage. If it does, however, use maim and carnis: stinger instead.

Hybrid

Mandatories, Target cracker, pistol gambit, frostbite, pistol pestilence.

1 slot remains. Use it for either carnis: stinger/maim if the weapon has a lot of slash as base-damage. scorch if it doesn’t, and is rather status-focused. And anemic agility if it doesn’t and is rather Crit-focused.

Melee

No absolute general Mandatories.

Stances are not included

This one will be in multiple categories.

No-Combo Light-Attacks

No mandatories

Crit

Pressure Point, True Steel, Organ Shatter, Berserker/Quickening/fury, Primed Reach, 90% Toxic + Electric

1 slot left. Fill it with buzz kill if the weapon has a lot of slash as base-damage and molten impact if not.

Status

Condition Overload, Primed reach, quickening/fury, virulent scourge, vicious frost, volcanic edge, carnis; mandible

Hybrid

Condition overload, berserker/quickening/fury, true steel, organ shatter, virulent scourge, vicious frost, primed reach

1 slot left. Fill it with carnis: mandible if the weapon has a lot of slash as base-damage and volcanic edge if not.

Heavy-Attacks

Only Crit-builds for heavy attacks are considered viable.

Pressure point, True Steel, organ shatter, killing blow, corrupt charge, 90% Toxix + Electric

1 slot left. Fill it with buzz kill if the weapon has a lot of slash as base-damage and molten impact if not.

Combo-Builds

Generally considered meta.

No Mandatories

Crit

Pressure Point, True Steel, Organ shatter, Berserker/quickening/fury, blood rush, 90% toxic + electric, primed reach

Status

Condition Overload, virulent scourge, vicious frost, volcanic edge, primed reach, quickening/fury, weeping wounds

1 slot left. Fill it with volcanic edge if the weapon is lacking slash, and carnis: mandible if it has a lot of slash as base-damage

Hybrid

Condition Overload, primed reach, blood rush, weeping wounds, berserker/quickening/fury, organ shatter, 90% cold + toxic
